Pasta Sauce in 10 Minutes
Making a good pasta sauce, in my opinion, is on the DNA. I have a lot of Italian friends and they all make incredible sauces, but mine is never as good as theirs.
Preparing the sauce is a long process, and even when you can take shortcuts like buying canned tomatoes, it can take couple of hours to make it the right way.
I have a good recipe for the marinara sauce and it comes out really tasty, but when you have an active toddler two hours is a long time for cooking.
I created this 1 pan, 6 ingredients and 10 minutes recipe that Mia loves. Hope you enjoy it as much as she does.
What do you need?
1 Tomato (large)
1/4 Onion
1/4 Cup water
1 Tbsp. Olive oil
1/2 Tsp. Garlic (crushed)
1/2 Tsp. Oregano (dried)
Salt and pepper to taste
What to do?
Dice the tomato and onion in small cubes
Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat
Add the olive oil and saute the onions until soften and then add tomato
Season with salt and pepper to taste and let cook for about 2 minutes
Add the garlic and oregano and cook for another minute
Add the water and cook until half of the liquid evaporates
Voila!
Tips, variations & more:
If you want a thicker sauce, add a tablespoon of tomato paste after adding the water
If you want to add a protein to this sauce, go for it. I pulled 1/3 cup of cod and mixed it with the sauce and Mia loved it
